Had quite a few dead locusts within the boxes but this is more to do with treatment of parcel whilst with Royal Mail. I opted for lava rocks because they are far less expensive than hydroballs, and they're innert so they shouldn't leech minerals into the water. If you water it and it ends up being a lot of water in the bottom drainage layer, then next time dont put as much water in. I thought it was unnecessary, so could I use some plastic tubing or something to siphon the water out if it built up too much? The hydro balls half work, i only needed them for a drainage system to get rid of unneeded moisture, however when hear comes into contact with the hydroballs they go bone dry and no longer contain moisture, they cannot work under very humid hot tanks, no matter how much you wet the tank.
