About this deal

Turn out the dough onto a surface sprinkled with powdered sugar or flour. Divide into 6 equal parts. Freeze dried blueberries and strawberries can be found at trader joes or target. Freeze dried raspberries at target (TJs doesn’t seem to sell them anymore =( ) It is never too early to introduce some fantastic science words to kids. Get them started with a printable science vocabulary word list. You will want to incorporate these simple science terms into your next science lesson! WHAT IS A SCIENTIST

Starting with purple, roll the dough into a log about 6-8 inches (15-20 cm) long. This will be the center of the rainbow.

Add two cups of sugar into a bowl – one bowl per color. We made six different colors of sugar scrub – it seems like a ton when you are mixing it, but this much sugar made roughly three jars worth of sugar scrub. Step 2 For the same, you just need a jar, 1/2 cup dishwashing liquid, 1/2 cup olive oil, 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, 1/2 cup water, a spoon, and food coloring tablets. Add enough grapeseed oil (probably about half a cup, but I didn’t measure it exactly) until your sugar clumps together. The desired consistency should look like scooped ice cream. Then layer the sugar into your jars. Step 4

Each creation is an exclusive design; choose from Naked or Semi Naked Wedding Cakes, Vintage Wedding Cakes, Floral Wedding Cakes, Contemporary Cakes or Novelty Designs. In the glass with red food coloring, do not add any sugar. Add 2 tablespoon of sugar to the yellow glass, 4 tablespoons to the green glass and 6 tablespoons to the blue glass. Stir the mixture in each glass until the sugar is dissolved. Now add a spoonful of sugar in the first cup and stir it properly to let the sugar completely dissolved. Add two spoonful’s of sugar in the second cup, three spoonful’s of sugar in the third cup, and four spoonful’s of sugar in the fourth cup.

Take one of the candy rainbow pieces and place an end into one cluster of clouds and the other end in the second cluster. The rainbow should form an arch. According to educator Alexe in this science activity video, density is how scientists talk about how crowded something is. For example, if you drop one little ball into a cup, the ball will have plenty of space to move around inside the cup, and this means low density.

To shape: make sure all the colors are represented evenly as you shape it into a ball. Then, begin rolling it between your palms. I find often one side gets a cute little swirl if I roll them enough. Once you are satisfied with the look of the dough ball, dip it in the sugar mix. Repeat with all the dough balls. Bake Line up five glasses. Add 1 tablespoon (15 g) of sugar to the first glass, 2 tablespoons (30 g) of sugar to the second glass, 3 tablespoons of sugar (45 g) to the third glass, and 4 tablespoons of sugar (60 g) to the fourth glass. The fifth glass remains empty.Berry powder: I used raspberry powder for my ‘red’ and blueberry powder for my ‘blue’, for purple I used both. You can also use strawberry powder in place of the raspberry. You’ll need about ½ cup of each to get a few tablespoons of the powder. You will soon observe a rainbow inside the jar as the separation between all the liquids will be distinctly visible, and you will notice that the liquid with the highest density will be at the bottom and that with the lowest density will be at the top. You will find that olive oil and rubbing alcohol are less denser than dishwashing liquid and water. This amazing video of the sugar rainbow experiment gives a deep insight into density and the way to learn about the density while having loads of fun at home. By dropping various objects in a cup of water, kids can also know which has less density and which has more density than water. Now, what is this density? Think like a scientist! Act like a scientist! Scientists like you and me are also curious about the world around them. Learn about the different types of scientists and what they do to increase their understanding of their specific areas of interest. Read What Is A Scientist SCIENCE BOOKS FOR KIDS Once chilled, remove the plastic wrap, and cut the dough in half to make 2 rainbow shapes. Set aside.

Add a generous dose of different coloring agents in each of the glass. So, you have four glasses with blue, red, yellow, and green colored water. Add 2-3 drops of red food coloring to the first glass, yellow to the second, green to the third and blue to the fourth.Number your cups from 1-6. Add 3 ounces of hot water (or about 1/3 of a cup) to each cup. Add food coloring to each cup to make a rainbow. Start with red in cup #1, orange in #2, yellow in cup #3, green in cup #4, blue in cup #5, and purple in cup #6. The Steve Spangler kits come with fizzing colored tablets that are fun to work with and easy to color the water with. The sugar solutions are miscible, or mixable, so the colors will bleed into each other and eventually mix. We lightly scented each layer with a different scent. Think about the different scents as you put them together and try and mix ones that smell terrific together. Make your sugar scrub as colorful as you want! Step 3 Then start spooning the red sugar scrub into your mason jar and level with a spoon until you have a nice layer
